Review: Y Flicker Air A3 Scooter

For quite some time now my girls have been going on at me about the new style scooters, the ones that have split foot boards and you can ride them without putting your feet on the floor. Miss M has been the one, on and on she has badgered, can she have one and I said yes, if she paid for it.  They both have perfectly good regular scooters and I didn't want to be spending money out where I didn't need to.

It was for this reason that when I saw the Yvolution Y Flicker Air A3 Scooter available for review I applied straight away. When all three kids arrived home from school and saw the scooter box there was whoops of joy and both the 8 and 12 year olds were equally as happy and could not wait to try it out. I have to say I thought it would be Miss M that rode it most and would not be willing to give it up to the other two but actually it has been her twin Miss E who is besotted with her scooter. She has been ready at 7.30am each morning before school so she can have at least 1/2 hours play before school. I can not moan at that!

For a big scooter, I was surprised how small it can fold for delivery, storage and transportation and there is a sturdy black strap that can be re-used for when you need to keep the scooter closed.

Putting the scooter together is easy and the only tool you need is provided. When you fold the front bar up from the footplates you can use the (attached) special spring loaded nuts to tighten the front bar to the bottom plates and wheels and they are super simple and come undone easily too. I needed to put the handlebars on and they are marked with an R to show you which side goes on the right and I just had to put the screws and nuts on and use the mini-wrench to tighten it all. I have to be honest and say I thought the instructions were a bit naff, I assume they are for lots of different scooters as the tool shown and the top plate for the handlebars are different. Luckily I didn't need the instructions it is so straight forward.

Before I let the girls go out on the scooter I got them to watch a short video on the Yvolution website to show them the action needed to self-propel the scooter along and I was impressed with how quickly they got it. On Monday there was a couple of adults and about 8 kids all taking turns to go on the scooter and see who could go fastest and do the best moves. It is certainly a hit in our local community, I can imagine it will make it to a few Christmas lists.

I asked Miss E to tell us what she thinks of her new scooter and to show us it in action -

The RRP for the Y Flicker Air A3 Scooter is £79.99 but I see it is on special at Halfords at the moment for just £59.99 and I think that is a fantastic price. I can imagine this scooter will be used for a long time to come and for something that has been dragged around and played on lots there are not any chips in the black paintwork, so it looks set to stay looking smart too - which is even better.

I am really happy to recommend this scooter as all my children give is a big thumbs up and I'm struggling to come up with any points for improvement apart from the instruction booklet.

Disclosure: We have provided with this scooter free of charge for the purpose of this review. I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest.
