Dreaming of Devon

You might have seen me mention that we were away last weekend in Kent and it really wasn't the best of breaks, such a shame as we had high hopes but I'm putting it all behind me and focusing on the future.

The best way is always to look forward and for us that means at break at the end of May to Mazzard Farm holiday cottages in East Devon. Just look at that photo above, we are definitely ready for a holiday to the Jurassic Coast. I can't for one minute imagine this break will be anything like the one we have just experienced as one of the first things I always do when checking out a holiday venue is visit Tripadvisor and see what people have to say. Mazzard Farm has 104 reviews on there and 91 of them are excellent,10 very good and even the last odd one is just average. I can honestly say that I've never seen any place before without a poor or terrible rating. It's a fabulous sign.

I literally had to screen grab a couple of reviews to share with you as they are so good -

Obviously I'll be taking this break with my husband and three children and this means I am looking for somewhere that is family friendly. We already live in 220 acres of amazing land so my kids are used to be being pretty free range and being able to climb trees and run around whenever they want to and I'm sure the 17 acres of woods, gardens and orchards will delight them and I'll certainly enjoy the seating areas and BBQ's scattered across the grounds. It is wonderful to be somewhere different and out in the open air.

Mazzard Farm is a small, award-winning, cluster of six luxury cottages just outside the market town of Ottery St. Mary in East Devon, and 5 miles off the Jurassic Coast at Sidmouth. Mazzard Farm caters for groups up to 24 people or each of the cottages can be used by separate families. I really am super excited as everything I read just paints Mazzard Farm in a more and more positive light. Our cottage (Quarenden, which sleeps 6) has a large open-plan living space with a wood-burning stove (not that I hope we will need that in May), flatscreen TV and DVD, free wi-fi, 2 bathrooms, all linen and towels provided, well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and so much more. Visit Britain have rated the farm as 4 stars and I'm pretty sure I'll see why when we arrive.

As I toured the Mazzard Farm website I was pretty amazed with some of the speciality breaks and special offers available. Ruud and his wife Jacqueline really seem to be in tune with what their guests need and you can book pamper treatments, a chef to come to your cottage and cook for you or a DBS checked babysitter for your night out (all at extra cost). I just love all the thoughtful family friendly extras too like providing stair gates, cots, baby monitors, toys etc etc but probably the most enticing thing is the special offers. How cool that you can call and book for a weekend and if your child's inset day falls on a Monday or Friday they will try to give you another night free of charge (subject to availability) or at least look at early arrival or late departure depending on the day.  Literally each click around the site provided me with another thing to be impressed with, like the fact they will pick you up and return you back to Honiton station if you travel by train and then loan you bikes whilst staying at Mazzard Farm too.  You really do have to go and explore and see what might suit you.

Have a look at this short tour video and see if Mazzard Farm might be right for your next break away to Devon.

And while I'm dreaming of Devon my friend Jenny is off experienceing somethign quite different for her family holiday.

Disclosure: We will visit Mazzard Farm as their guests for three nights at the end of May.  I'll be blogging about our time there and sharing on social media.  I've not been instructed what to write and of course I'll be honest (as always).
