5 Reasons to Take a Family Holiday at Mazzard Farm Holiday Cottages

I could so easily have titled this post 10 reasons, 20 reasons or even 50 reasons why you must book your holiday at Mazzard Farm Holiday Cottages but let's be realistic, you probably wouldn't read that many. So I'll keep it concise and tell you five reason why I believe every family will love to stay at Mazzard Farm Holiday Cottages in Ottery St Mary, East Devon.

1.  Responsive and Personal Service -

Prior to arrival, my communications with Ruud, the owner of Mazzard Farm were via email and I always found him to be very friendly, professional and responsive. As soon as we had confirmed our break he emailed me a 31 page what to do in the local area guide, it was excellent and included ideas of activities for rainy days and things to do on a limited budget as well. I truly found that every email delivered a response that was above what I would expect, I asked about early arrival and leaving my luggage whilst we went off and explored and not just a yes to my query but then suggestions of places to go to. It is clear that Ruud and his wife Jac genuinely love what they do and want to make sure that every customer is happy.

When we arrived both Ruud and Jac greeted and us and whilst Ruud showed us around and chatted with our kids, Jac bought us the ingredients so we could enjoy a delicious homemade cream tea. It was so appreciated after a long drive.

Dear So and So - Delightful Devon

Oh Devon,

We only saw such a small part of you on our whirlwind three night trip over the weekend but how I love you. So lush, so green, just like a massive patchwork quilt spread before us as we drove along. I adored being up in the hills and taking the roads down to Sidmouth or Exmouth. You literally took my breath away as we cruised over the summit and saw the views across the fields and down to the sea. Simply stunning, I'm sure we will be back.

Great places to visit in East Devon/ Dorset

We are off to stay at a beautiful self-catering cottage at Mazzard Farm at the end of May for a long weekend and we are all very excited. This isn’t an area of the country we have explored before but it is only a four hour drive and just along the coast from my beloved Bournemouth.

I’m starting to think about where we may go and visit when we are in East Devon, so I asked for recommendations on one of the blogger forums I use and I got a whole ton of suggestions of local places to visit and even better than that, I was pointed to loads of review posts, so I can really ascertain what might suit our family.

Mummy’s Little Stars was the first to make a recommendation and she suggested we go to Escot, which is a 220 acre natural haven in the heart of East Devon. Looking at the pictures in Fiona’s post I know my kids will love it here. We live in 220 acres of natural wood and parkland and this looks very similar but with the added bonus of a huge maze, trampolines and tons of trees to climb on. I can see why Escot is called the Natural Place.

Mary at Over 40 and Mum to One advises we visit Charmouth for the beach and discovery centre there and it appears there is fabulous rock pooling, so that will be a big hit, just look at this beauty –

Dreaming of Devon

You might have seen me mention that we were away last weekend in Kent and it really wasn't the best of breaks, such a shame as we had high hopes but I'm putting it all behind me and focusing on the future.

The best way is always to look forward and for us that means at break at the end of May to Mazzard Farm holiday cottages in East Devon. Just look at that photo above, we are definitely ready for a holiday to the Jurassic Coast. I can't for one minute imagine this break will be anything like the one we have just experienced as one of the first things I always do when checking out a holiday venue is visit Tripadvisor and see what people have to say. Mazzard Farm has 104 reviews on there and 91 of them are excellent,10 very good and even the last odd one is just average. I can honestly say that I've never seen any place before without a poor or terrible rating. It's a fabulous sign.
