Yippee, Its National Slime Day Today! Glam Goo Deluxe Pack Review

Well who knew there was even such a thing as national slime day? I certainly didn't but it seems fitting for this year as my girls love to make slime and there is always a collection of tubs of the gooey stuff on our side.

When I asked the girls if they wanted to have a play with Glam Goo for National Slime Day they were thrilled and said yes straight away, as we make tons of white and coloured slime but good clear slime is a much harder make and that is what comes with the Glam Goo Deluxe pack. The RRP is £22.99 but to be honest it seemed to mostly be selling for £29.99 at well-known toy stores such as Argos and Smyths Toys.

In the Deluxe pack you get the clear Glam Goo in a pink storage case, 3 sprinkles, 2 colour pigments, a scent and of course the glamorous slime storage handbag and ring. The girls love it that you can mix and match all the sparkles and colours to make lots of different small batches of slime and as you can see in the handbag below, they really are very pretty.

The bag has a pink cover that goes inside it to ensure it stays air-tight and the slime lasts. We have had ours made for a couple of weeks now and I find you have to play with it to warm up the slime a little but it then still has good stretch. If you try to do it too quick, it does snap a bit.

6 Great UK Slime Tutorials - Floam, Cloud, Glow in the Dark and More

If you or your kids enjoy making slime and you need recipes that use ingredients readily available in the UK then you are in the right place as my kids adore making slime and we have loads of tutorials over on Youtube.

Great, stretchy slime is not difficult to make and all you need are some basic ingredients - PVA glue (the white stuff is far easier to use than clear which tends to be much more runny), bicarbonate of soda and something to activate it. I use contact lens solution, saline solution or eye wash (but it must contain boric acid, so check the ingredients). You can also use Lidl Foril washing detergent, Aldi Almat washing detergent or Kershaws washing starch, all readily available in the UK and not too expensive.

You can then add in all sorts of fun things to make different kinds of slime if that is your bag. Shaving foam is a great addition as that makes your slime all fluffy and of course different colours can be added via food colouring or paint. Then you have glitter, sequins, foam balls, beads, bands, gems, instant snow and anything else you fancy really!

8 Fabulous Slime Tutorials with Top Slime Tips (UK Ingredients)

Over the last six months my 10 year old twin daughters and I have been having loads of fun making slime together. We use an easy recipe with ingredients all easily available in the UK and Ireland and the slime can be made in under 5 minutes and lasts for weeks as long as you keep it in an very air-tight container and take it out to play with regularly rather than just leaving it to sit unattended.

Big Fluffy Sparkle Slime - First up is our most recent video and it is the first appearance of Miss M on video. She does make me laugh in this and Miss E was filming and guiding her through what to do. They did a great job and Miss M is still enjoying playing with this big slime a couple of weeks later. You can see in the photo below that the glitter starts to bleed into the white slime as it gets more and more gold looking the older it gets.

Ingredients - This slime is made with PVA glue, shaving foam, bicarbonate of soda, glitter and contact lens solution (containing boric acid - this is important to make it work!) and food colouring or paint if you want it to be a different colour.

Slime Tip - You can add baby oil to help a sticky slime become less sticky or any kind of baby or body lotion to help your slime be more stretchy.

Slime Tip - Use the ultra fine glitter instead of the regular grainy type as this makes the difference in feel when you play with the slime.

Review: The Works - Make Your Own Slime by Karina Garcia

Back in May I decided to make slime with the boy that I coach through the charity TLG. I needed a fun activity we could complete in about 40 minutes (including clear up) and slime was his suggestion. It was nothing I'd ever attempted before but after some googling and browsing of the web, I came up with ingredients I thought I could source in the UK and that would work.

Thankfully they did and we had lots of fun. I shared a short video clip on Instagram and quickly got asked to share my recipe, so this led to me making a YouTube tutorial and I was super impressed with how well it did in the first month, getting about 10K views and then it must have been added to an autoplay list or something by YouTube as it now has over a quarter of a million views on it and I seem to have developed a little fan base of kiddie slime makers. It is like another world, a world I was not part of and didn't really know existed. There was I thinking I was making a tutorial for parents to make slime with their kids but I've found that most kids go it alone!

As a parent it can be a bit of a worry that your child is off exploring YouTube alone as all sorts of random and inappropriate videos can pop up on the recommendations. For this reason I was really pleased to be offered the new book by slime guru Karina Garcia. This year she has published her first slime making book called Make Your Own Slime and it is ready for the UK market, so all the ingredients needed are easily available in the UK. This is something I can give to Miss M and Miss E and let them have some fun knowing they won't stumble across things I don't want them to see on YouTube.

UK Recipe - Fabulous Fun 2 Minute Make Kids Silly Putty/ Slime

Over the last couple of weeks I have been testing out loads of slime recipes and trying to find one that works every time with UK ingredients. I have at last been successful and here is the recipe -
