What an odd time we are living through right now. If you're not attached and finding love is on the agenda it really isn't the easiest time but you know what they say in life, "nothing worth having comes easy" so don't despair you can still find someone to have fun with, devote your life to or even marry, depending on your desire.

Dating in your Local Area

Being responsible at the moment means staying close to home and therefore dating within your home county is a great idea, as it means you won't be travelling long distances to meet up with new people. It also means that you'll be familiar with the areas where you'll go to meet your date/s and this will help you to feel safe.

I lived in Herts for 15 years and lots of my friends dated and found love within our local area. You often find that by searching locally you find someone with the same kind of aspirations in life and someone who enjoys living in the same area as you do and therefore if you decide to commit long term you shouldn't have to make a big upheaval and move away to a new area. You'll retain all your friends, maybe make some new ones and can stay with your job and local clubs.

Of course, you won't go on to marry every person you date and therefore if you'll continue to live in the same area once you have broken up, you need to make sure you break off any relationships well, so you can ensure there are not any awkward moments in the future. And on the flip side, you might meet people who you know you are not romantically suited to but actually, you get on wonderfully as friends and you end up with some new friendships from your experience. That is surely a win.

Hertfordshire Dating can be a delight and I thought I'd share some great places to meet your new date or to take an existing date across this beautiful county. For more ideas take a look on Trip Advisor too.

Dates for Outdoorsy Types

*   If you're heading out in the Autumn months for an outdoor date, you can't go wrong with a lovely walk in the National Trust Ashridge Estate near Berhamstead. There are plenty of waymarked trails so you can explore safely and you might just be lucky and see the rutting deer, which is a magnificent sight, but keep your distance.

*   If you are feeling romantic and it is the right season (June to August), then Hitchin Lavender is a stunning place to visit. You'll be able to get some amazing photos for social media too.

*   How about a walk in the grounds and woodlands of the gorgeous Hatfield House? Or maybe take in one of their outdoor concerts. The Battle Proms are always a magnificent event and you can take your own chair and champers to enjoy it in style.

Dates for Culture Lovers

*   Head over to the Henry Moore Studios and Gardens near Bishops Stortford, where you can explore around 60 acres of beautiful grounds housing over 20 world-renowned sculptures.

*   Whether you are religious or not, St Albans Cathedral is a beautiful place to visit. It is situated in parkland for a lovely walk and easy access to Verulamium Park and lake, and entry inside is free, as are the daily guided tours.

*   Take a six mile walk along the Grand Union Canal and discover the Tring Reservoirs, you'll enjoy an abundance of scenary, lots of wildlife and bird sightings and you can watch the canal boats as they go through a number of locks.

Dates for Foodies

*   If you fancy a daytime and casual date venue try out the Waffle House in St Albans. Their sweet and savoury waffles are amazing and there is such a nice atmosphere there but make sure you book as it gets very busy. Or if there are covid restrictions they have outdoor seating, as well as take-away and drive-through options.

*   Maybe a fancy dinner or afternoon tea is what you have in mind for your date, and if so then check out Auberge du Lac at Brocket Hall. Everything about a meal experience there is a little special, great food, lovely atmosphere and attentive staff.

*   If you fancy some amazing pub grub in one of Hertfordshire's top gastro pubs head to The College Arms in Hertford Heath. There is a large pub garden for safe outdoor eating and the menu changes seasonally with an extensive specials board. You are sure to find some treats waiting for you there.

Dates for Adventurers

*   A visit to the Lea Valley White Watersports Centre is a must for any thrill-seeker. Why not have a go at hydrospeeding or white water rafting?

The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead is suitable for beginners and pros who love real snow. You can show off your skills in skiing or snowboarding, or just have some fun on the ringos. It will be a date to remember for sure!

*   Just slightly outside Herts but the Go Ape sites at Cockfosters or Wendover Woods will provide a few hours of fun. Have you ever done one of their aerial courses? They are so much fun and will get the adrenaline pumping.

I hope you enjoy trying out some of these suggestions, but first things first, get yourself registered and start chatting to some prospective dates online and then take it from there. All the best!
