Bringing Families Together at Prezzo with #PrezzoLaFamiglia

It's no word of a lie when I tell you that Prezzo is our favourite of all the Italian restaurant chains. They always offer an amazing spaghetti carbonara for us girls, mini Nutella and banana calzone for the kids, crisp and tasty pizza for my boys and Coke in a frosted glass for me, what more can I ask for?

Well to be honest another reason we go there so often is because there is always a great deal to be had. Sign up for their mailing list and you'll regularly get sent deals like 40% off main courses and kids eat for £1. Oh and you can also convert your Tesco vouchers into deals to be used there too, so about once a quarter we get a free meal (just having to pay for our drinks).

Last week we headed over to our local Prezzo in Hailsham, East Sussex and we have eaten here dozens of times before and I cannot ever recall even one bad dining experience. I'd booked a table via their website, which is nice and easy and it is reassuring that you get an email confirmation and even a reminder email the day before. There are over 250 UK based Prezzo restaurants, so there is bound to be one near you, check here for locations.

La Famiglia Sharing Pasta Bowls - Bringing the Family Together
Our table of five was ready for us and we knew exactly what we were having as we were there to try out the new #PrezzoLaFamiglia Challenge. This celebrates the new La Famiglia sharing pasta bowl and the joys of eating together and trying dishes as a family. The La Famiglia sharing pasta bowl is available in four varieties - Penne Arrabiata, Spaghetti Bolognese, Spaghetti Carbonara or Penne Alla Rusticana, so there is something to suit all palates. As I've already mentioned all three of us girls in my family are crazy for carbonara so this was the natural choice for us and I am convinced that Prezzo do it better than anywhere else. My son did suggest that Prezzo think about a combo sharing plate with two halves of different pastas to suit varying tastes and I thought this sounded a good idea too.

The La Famiglia sharing bowl is advertised as being enough for four people (depending on appetites) and before we got there I was convinced it wouldn't be enough for four of us as my children are all big eaters. I'm pleased to say I was wrong and there was plenty of pasta to be had. I loved the fact that we could all dip in and help ourselves. it was nice to get the kids serving the adults and offering the seconds to the other members of the family before taking it for themselves. Who knew Prezzo could help kids with their manners and selfish tendencies?

The La Famiglia sharing pasta bowl costs £18.90 and when you share that between the four people eating it is a really good deal, under a fiver each. We also ordered a pizza on the side and some garlic bread as we are a hungry family of five and wanted to make sure we left feeling satisfied - I can truly say we did!

A pizza for my boy, but he was happy to share it out and tuck into the pasta too

One of the things I loved about ordering a La Famiglia sharing bowl is that there was no opportunity for anyone to be envious of what someone else had ordered. You know what it is like, you order one thing and your spouse another and theirs always looks better than yours, not so when you all dip in and have a sharing dish.

I can imagine it is also a good idea for when you have little ones as sometimes they just don't eat very much and it is wasteful to order them a whole meal. Don't forget also that you could use it as a fun way to get your little one to try something new. The Penne Alla Rusticana for example has chicken, pancetta and roasted peppers in it and that might be a nice way to introduce a toddler to a new flavour sensation.

We managed to polish off the huge bowl of pasta!

After polishing off our main courses we were ready to try some authentic Italian Gelato and sorbet and I wasn't expecting much as I'm not much of an ice-cream fan but boy is it good. I had salted chocolate ice cream and blood orange sorbet and the flavours as you have a little of each is just stunning. The ice cream is smooth and creamy and the sorbet full of flavour that just pops in your mouth. I was sold, as were the rest of the family who also tried a variety of flavour combinations.

Always a Fabulous Dining Experience
Generally we have always had wonderful service at this Prezzo. The staff are friendly and attentive and the food comes within a good time range. Sadly on this occasion it turned out to be super busy and I can only assume the restaurant had not expected it as they only had three waiting staff on and they were doing all the meeting, seating, order taking, serving, clearing, drinks and desserts and this meant that our service was less than perfect this time. No-one checked up on our meal and it took an age to get our desserts. I have to say I felt our family was completely overlooked towards the end of the meal.

Luckily this won't put me off coming back as I have enough great experiences to draw on to know this was a one-off.

Thanks Prezzo, we'll be back soon!
