Review: Modern Mansion Wooden Dolls House

My girls are just reaching that age when they are interested in playing with their fashion dolls. Moxie seems to be the brand of choice in our house although there are a few Barbie’s too. I can’t lie I’ve always been keen for my girls to enjoy playing dress-up with their dolls as it was my favourite thing in the world when I was a little girl myself. Sindy used to accompany me everywhere along with her horse and wardrobe full of clothes. My real love was the shoes though and oh how much those little pieces of rubber used to cost.

I was never lucky enough to have a house for my Sindy’s as they cost far too much and besides where on earth would I have put it in my little box-room and of course playrooms were not commonplace in the UK thirty years ago. Luckily my girls are in a different situation and have a big double bedroom each, so when KidsPlaystore.com asked me if they would like to review a modern mansion wooden dolls house I nearly bit their hand off.

This house is not your average dolls house, it is massive, but in a good way (dimensions: 112 cm H x 80 cm W x 32 cm D). As tall as my 5 year olds and how perfect is that for playing with, loads of room and great fun. It is built especially for the larger fashion dolls and accommodates dolls up to about 30cm.
As you can see there are three floors and five rooms in total and to get you started you will receive seven pieces of wooden furniture with it - Bed, Toilet, Dressing Table & Stool, Armchair, Kitchen Table & Chair.  This is a bit of a bonus as dolls houses are normally sold empty.  I was very impressed with the furniture too as it is very sturdy and good quality wood.  Both the girls and I loved the colourings on the house and the furniture, you can tell this is a high end product.
The modern mansion wooden dolls house is exclusive to the Kids Playstore and that means that your child will probably have something different to their friends and it will be even more special. The wood is sturdy and really good quality and even with small bums resting against it (yes really) it seems to be doing a good job of staying sturdy and standing tall. Even the back of the house is thick chipboard and due to the way it goes together it sits firm and I feel confident this will last a long time.

We received the house just before Christmas but I made a mindful decision not to give it to my twins until after Christmas as I knew it would be too much on top of the presents that were already planned. So on the evening of 2nd January I made the doll’s house whilst watching some easy viewing TV.  It probably took me about 50 minutes but that was due to me watching the TV and also I put a couple of pieces in the wrong way and only realised once I had screwed them in, doh! The instructions were really simple but I just had not taken note of where holes where. Every piece was labelled with a letter and this made it very simple. You assemble the doll’s house you will need a Phillips and flathead screwdriver and a bit of elbow grease, but that is all!
Miss E woke first on the morning of 3rd Jan and she came in to see me and I told her there was a surprise downstairs, she got half-way down and looked over into our front room and run back at the stairs and hugged me and screamed I was the best and then run in to wake her twin. Poor Miss M had no idea what was going on but within minutes they were both down there playing with the house and having no interest whatsoever that Mummy was going to work.  The dolls house had worked like a treat, I was hoping they would love it so much they would let me head out the door without a peep!

When I got home I asked dh how much they had played with the house during the day and was pleased to hear it was loads and since then I have seen it for myself.  This dolls house is a big hit with my girls and it still seems to be in my front room!
Pros

The big plus point at the moment is that this has been reduced from £149.99 to £44.99 for a limited period.  I kid you not this is the best product for that price, such a steal!
·       Good quality wooden dolls house
·       Beautiful décor that is plastic covered so it won’t peel or fade
·       Furniture included with the house
·       Will provide hours and hours of play
·       Big enough for two or more children to happily play with at the same time
·       Really well packaged for delivery
·       Easy to assemble, good straight forward instructions
·       Allows mums to fulfil their childhood dreams!
Cons
·       A couple of pieces need a bit of wood glue in my opinion, like the railing by the first floor stairs, this is not an issue as I’ll do that but it might be good to have it included
·       You do need enough room to keep this, as you would not want to put it up and down regularly
I found the delivery good and most items can be delivered the next working day if ordered by 3pm. Delivery is £6.95 for orders under £75 and free for those over that. There appears to be a good returns policy and I'd happily buy from Kidsplay store in the future.
If you are looking at kids dolls houses you would do well to include this in your shortlist.

Disclosure:  I received this dolls house for the purpose of this review.  I have not been instructed what to write and I remain honest.
